Education, Mother of Science

At the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Seventh Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK, said science is an engine pulling the economic development and education is the mother of science and saw that the education of the country was fundamentally improved.

Education is the mother of science. This reflects the idea of the WPK on training a greater number of talented scientists and technicians who would contribute to the building of a powerful socialist country by bringing about a turn in education.
Comrade Kim Jong Un worked heart and soul to make the educational work the most important of the state affairs of the country.
He advanced a revolutionary policy on readjusting the educational system so as to firmly guarantee the development of the country and on boldly breaking formulism and comprehensively applying heuristics in the field of education, and took important measures to enforce the universal 12-year compulsory education.
He ensured that the social ethos of giving top priority to education pervaded the country and that the Party and state commendations were awarded to teachers who volunteered to work at island branch schools and schools in the forefront area and mountainous regions.
He also had the Pyongyang Middle School for Orphans built into a model and standard of secondary education. He provided modern houses to educators of Kim Il Sung University and had a photo session with them, congratulating them on their removal into the new houses.
Under his wise leadership and deep love, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea attaches importance to education, introduces advanced educational methods and systems and perfects them all the more.
It is an unshakable will of Comrade Kim Jong Un to glorify ours as a country of education and accelerate the building of a powerful socialist country with the engine of science and technology.
