Mt. Paektu area registered as world geopark
  The area of Mt. Paektu was registered as a world geopark on the 10th at the 221st Session of the Executive Council of the UNESCO which is now under way in Paris of France.
  The peculiar geological features of the geopark of Mt. Paektu which is famous for peculiar geological sites including Mt. Paektu, Lake Chon, Jong Il Peak, Lake Samji and the Rimyongsu Falls and rocks formed naturally by the volcanic and geological actions in the long historic course of the earth present a unique and magnificent scenery.
  The registration of the area of Mt. Paektu as a world geopark further emphasizes the geological significance and tourist value of Mt. Paektu, the ancestral mountain.
