31st Pyongyang International Marathon Race held
The 31st Pyongyang International Marathon Race took place on the occasion of the greatest national holiday in April.
The race was divided into marathon, half marathon and 10-km and 5-km running. It brought together marathoners from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, China, Romania, Morocco and Ethiopia and amateurs from different countries and regions.
Its opening ceremony was held atKim Il Sung Stadium on the 6th.
Present there were Pak Jong Gun, Vice-Premier of the Cabinet and Chairman of the State Planning Commission who is Vice-Chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee, Kim Il Guk, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports, officials concerned, officials in the sports sector, Pyongyang citizens and foreign guests.
A speech was made and the flag symbolic of the race hoisted at the ceremony.
When the race started, the marathoners and amateurs ran along the set course.
After the race, there was held the closing ceremony.
Trophy cups, medals and diplomas were awarded to the marathoners and amateurs who proved successful in the race.
