Lunar New Year's Day celebrated
The people in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea significantly celebrated the lunar New Year's Day in 2025.
Those who visited the park at the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, where the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are laid in state, paid a noble tribute to them, looking up to their smiling portraits.
The new streets and rural villages wonderfully built under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea were decked in gala attire and the families across the country were loud with happy laughter and merry songs.
Artistes of the Mansudae Art Troupe and the Phibada Opera Troupe gave performances respectively at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre and the Pyongyang Grand Theatre. Colourful performances were also given in the capital city and provinces, adding to the festive mood.
A national kite-flying contest of schoolchildren was held at Kim Il Sung Square. Shuttlecock, top spinning and other folk games were also played in different places in the city of Pyongyang, South Hwanghae Province and the city of Kaesong.
Public catering establishments throughout the country served their customers with diverse festive foods and people enjoyed themselves at the bases for cultural and emotional life such as the Central Zoo and the Natural History Museum.
The splendid neon signs before the Pyongyang Railway Station and in other places of the capital city made the night of the lunar New Year's Day conspicuous.
