Efficacy of Koryo Medicines Increased
The Koryo medicines are traditional ones used by the Korean people for a long time. They are known to have excellent curative effects.
People's interest in and demand for them are growing day by day along with the steady development of science and technology.
The Tongdaewon Koryo Medicine Pharmaceutical Factory is well-known to the Korean people for its highly efficacious Koryo medicines and health foods such as the Sophorae radix and Veratrum Endermic Liquid Medicine for skin diseases and wound cure, the Calcium Magnesium Acetate Tablets for osteoporosis and the Honey Locust Leaf Tea.
In particular, the Zinc Acetate Tablets, an ideal zinc supplement, was highly appreciated at the 38th Pyongyang Municipal Sci-Tech Festival and the "Exhibition of Products of Koryo Medicine Pharmaceutical Factories--2025" held last year.
In recent years, the factory has directed efforts to the technical innovation drive and achieved successes in further increasing the efficacy of Koryo medicines.

Process Inspector Ri Yong Ok said it is more important to improve the overall technical knowledge and skills of the producers in raising the quality of Koryo medicines, and continued:
"We cannot guarantee the quality of goods in the production of Koryo medicines unless we observe the technical requirements of every process. So we organize technical study and run the sci-tech learning space on a regular basis to encourage the employees to identify the technical requirements of the production processes."
The factory selects various technical problems arising in the production as the themes of their sci-tech study to make it an important occasion in improving the technical knowledge and skills of the producers.
In addition, it puts efforts into remodelling the overall production processes in cooperation with research units.
This year, too, it has successfully completed the remodelling and modernization of more than 10 pieces of equipment including the tablet packing machine and the water purifier.
As a result, it is thoroughly guaranteeing the quality of Koryo medicines while increasing their variety from 60-odd kinds to nearly 90, including the Scopolia parviflora Stomachic Tablets and the Apricot Stone Saposolum.
Now the factory is concentrating efforts on developing new medicines and creating conditions for their satisfactory production.
Its technicians are establishing new production processes including the one of separating essential oil from apricot stones and securing raw material resources in a far-sighted way.
Further surging is the enthusiasm of the producers to develop and turn out larger quantities of efficacious Koryo medicines without resting on their laurels and thus contribute to the promotion of the people's health.
