A lot of minor power stations are built in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea with many rivers.
One day in May 2019, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited Unit 2 of the Kumyagang Power Station.

The power station built using the favourable physiographical conditions of Kumya County, South Hamgyong Province, was a minor one with great profitability that can produce electricity without letup even in the dry season as it has abundant water resources.

That day Comrade Kim Jong Un spoke highly of the feats of the people in the county, saying it was a praiseworthy success that they were striving to build power stations and produce electricity by themselves in conformity with the characteristics of their region.
He added that he was very pleased with the fact that the minor power station had been built on a proper scale and in a profitable way by making a good calculation for using hydraulic resources effectively.
Unit 2 of the Kumyagang Power Station proved the validity of the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea on developing the local economy and improving the people's living standards by making an effective use of the natural and economic conditions in the regions concerned according to their actual situation.
