To Produce More Trees of High Economic Value
The 19th Enlarged Meeting of the Political Bureau of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea seriously discussed and decided on measures to implement the "Regional Development 20×10 Policy" which will make clear and rapid development of the regional economy in the future and bring great strength to the overall prosperity of the state and some issues to hasten the completion of the projects of major policy.
To this end, active efforts are made to build regional industry factories in 20 counties every year and create raw material bases necessary for their operation in all cities and counties of the country.
The Central Tree Nursery under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection is directing efforts to the production of saplings necessary for the regional economic development and the improvement of the people's livelihood.
Pak Kwang Gyun, Section Chief at the Central Tree Nursery, says:
"In the past our tree nursery produced pine, Changsong larch and other tall trees in the main as well as garden plants such as zelkova.  This year, we have set a target of producing large quantities of trees of high economic value including wild fruit and oil trees which may  be raw materials for regional industry factories and are making preparations for their production."

At present, the tree nursery is hastening the preparations for the production of saplings now that sowing begins in March.
It applies a lot of organic manure and huminite to the outdoor cultivating fields to raise the quality of soil.
It is also directing big efforts to speeding up the preparations for preceding work so as to put the sapling production on a highly intensive footing.

In addition, the tree nursery is further perfecting the integrated control system to manage the temperature and humidity in a scientific way while turning out substrate needed for the sapling production in time.
Its employees are determined to discharge their mission and duty in the work to make tangible changes in the development of the regional economy and the improvement of the people's livelihood.
