For the Formation of Organization of Young People of New Generation
The DIU was formed in the period when Korea was groaning under the Japanese imperialist colonial rule.
ComradeKim Il Sung embarked on the road of revolution in his teens to realize the desire of the Korean people writhing with the grief of a stateless nation.
While studying at the Hwasong Uisuk School in Huadian, he pursued new thought and accelerated the preparations for forming an organization with young people of new generation with one idea and purpose, Dr. Ri Yong Chol, Section Chief of the Academy of Social Sciences, said and continued:
"The great leader ComradeKim Il Sung acknowledged that it is necessary to train genuine communists of new generation unaffected by flunkyism and factionalism in order to open up a new path of the Korean revolution and started the work among students of the Hwasong Uisuk School.
Of course, the students of the Hwasong Uisuk School were under the influence of nationalism. But most of them were passionate young people of worker or peasant origin who turned out to fight against the Japanese imperialists for independence of the country. So if they were armed with new advanced idea, rallied in an organized way and tempered in struggle, it was possible to train them into fresh communists of new generation.
ComradeKim Il Sung disseminated the advanced idea among the students of the school in combination with practical issues of the Korean revolution and met them one by one and exerted a revolutionary influence on them to unite many revolutionary comrades who can share the same idea and purpose and cast in their lot."
One day, ComradeKim Il Sung held a meeting of the core young people he trained and told them that we should make Korea independent and build a new society where the poor people including workers and peasants are well-off, Dr. Ri Yong Chol, Section Chief of the Academy of Social Sciences, said and continued:
"Looking around at the passionate young people that day, the great leader ComradeKim Il Sung said the road of grand struggle may be long and thorny, and went on: But if we build up our ranks and fight a bloody battle, we can win victory. In order to open up the path of struggle we have to form a new organization, rally the masses behind it and arouse them to liberate the country with their own efforts."
Under the guidance of ComradeKim Il Sung , the core young people made more active preparations for forming an organization of young people of new generation afterwards.

Formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union
On October 17, 1926 Comrade Kim Il Sung formed the Down-with-Imperialism Union with passionate young people of new generation sharing the same idea and intention.
That day, he powerfully declared that the Korean people should defeat Japanese imperialism and achieve genuine independence of Korea by themselves and that if the wise and courageous people with a long history and brilliant culture struggle in unity, it is possible to defeat the brigandish Japanese imperialists and achieve independence of Korea.
In the programme of the DIU, he set it as its immediate task to defeat Japanese imperialism and achieve the liberation and independence of Korea and as its final objective to build socialism and communism in Korea and, further, destroy imperialism everywhere and build communism throughout the world, Dr. Ri Yong Chol said and continued:
"Aggression and plunder are the nature of imperialism and their means is military violence.
As imperialism tries to keep its existence and suppress the revolutionary advance of the progressive forces aspiring after independence by relying on the military violence, the sovereignty and dignity of one's country and nation cannot be defended or the independence of the masses of the people achieved without recourse to the arms.
On the historic day, the great leader ComradeKim Il Sung said the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union is the proclamation of the life-and-death struggle to defeat Japanese imperialism and the declaration of confrontation with imperialism everywhere on the earth. And he ardently called upon the passionate young people of the DIU to overcome all the difficulties and trials with their strong will and revolutionary fighting spirit, defeat the brigandish Japanese imperialism and achieve the independence of Korea."
The Down-with-Imperialism Union was a pure and fresh political organism of a new type created by ComradeKim Il Sung with young people of new generation aspiring after socialism and communism to achieve the national liberation and class emancipation under the idea of anti-imperialism, independence and sovereignty.
In the programme of the DIU, he set it as its immediate task to defeat Japanese imperialism and achieve the liberation and independence of Korea and as its final objective to build socialism and communism in Korea and, further, destroy imperialism everywhere and build communism throughout the world, Dr. Ri Yong Chol said and continued:

Historic Position of the DIU
The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il led the Workers' Party of Korea to victory and glory while working at its Central Committee for nearly half a century from the 1960s. He had a significant talk with officials on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union. That day, he said to officials that the formation of the DIU was a historic declaration heralding a new start of the Korean revolution and an epoch-making event that provided an occasion of fundamental change in shaping the destiny of the Korean people.
And he formulated the position of the DIU as the root of the WPK and the banner of victory of the Korean revolution.
The programme of the DIU became the basis of that of the WPK and the principle of independence put forward by the DIU became that of the Party building and activities.
Thanks to the DIU, the WPK could write the 80-odd-year-long history of victory and glory.
Holding high the banner of the DIU, the Korean people waged the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to accomplish the historic cause of national liberation and won victory in the Fatherland Liberation War against the armed invasion of the US imperialists in the 1950s under the leadership of ComradeKim Il Sung . Afterwards, they made epochal creations and changes for decades and built a powerful socialist country on this land.
The immortal exploits, performed by ComradeKim Il Sung for the era and revolution while defending the dignity and sovereignty of the country for decades under the banner of the DIU, will shine for all ages.
And he formulated the position of the DIU as the root of the WPK and the banner of victory of the Korean revolution.
