Original Policy of the WPK on Intellectuals

The Workers' Party of Korea trained the intellectuals into genuine revolutionaries and took care of them with its great ideal, priceless trust and love, which is recorded in the history of the Party.
The WPK put forward a correct policy of setting the intellectuals as one of the main components of the revolutionary forces, educating them in a revolutionary way and giving full play to their creative enthusiasm and talents for the first time in history, and has been implementing it perfectly and consistently even in any conditions and environment.
Doctor Han Kyong Rim, Researcher of the Academy of Social Sciences, said the original policy on intellectuals clarified by the great leader Kim Il Sung is clearly represented in a writing brush inscribed in the Party emblem along with a hammer and a sickle, and continued:
"One year, a foreign politician, who met the great leader Kim Il Sung during his visit to our country, said the emblem of the WPK has a hammer symbolic of a worker, a sickle of a peasant and a writing brush of an intellectual, and asked him how the writing brush was put in the Party emblem.
Kim Il Sung explained him in detail: Our Party held up the intellectuals along with workers and peasants from the day when it was founded. We can't build a new society without intellectuals. We have a lot of intellectuals from their 30s to 60s in our country. We can make the revolution victoriously as we have a lot of intellectuals."
It was the foundation of the WPK's policy on intellectuals to lead all of them whatever situation and character they have, putting trust in them as a member of the people.
The great leader Kim Jong Il gave the title of eternal companion, faithful assistant and excellent adviser of the Party to the intellectuals and led them to lead a glorious life to the end.
Elated by his love and trust, the intellectuals could share the destiny with socialism to the end and faithfully support the Party's idea on attaching importance to science with the motto that science has no frontiers, but our scientists have the socialist motherland of Juche.
The position of the intellectuals gets higher and their role is extraordinarily enhanced under the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
Today, the intellectuals become pathfinders and standard-bearers in hastening the building of a powerful socialist country and opening the civilization and efflorescence in the era of the Workers' Party with their sci-tech successes.

It is a firm will of Kim Jong Un to make the Democratic People's Republic of Korea a sci-tech power and talents power at an early date.
His will is manifested in his noble intention that science and technology should become a beacon to light the way ahead and lead the development and in the slogan "Let us make a leap forward by dint of science and guarantee the future by dint of education!".
Thanks to the Party's policy on attaching importance to talents, science and education, amazing and remarkable successes are made in succession in this country.
Creative work is actively done in the sector of advanced science to lead the world with our wisdom and resourcefulness and in our own way. New modern streets are built every year and the entities of regional rejuvenation witnessed in all parts of the country. All the creations for prosperity by dint of self-reliance in the new era are associated with the strength of science the Party attaches importance to and the efforts of the intellectuals.

All these miracles and events are a brilliant victory brought by the WPK's policy on intellectuals which is vigorously carried forward century after century and thoroughly applied at the new stage of development.
