1. When was the "Regional Development 20×10 Policy" presented?
The "Regional Development 20×10 Policy" was clarified anew at the Tenth Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK held on January 15, 2024.
It represents the plan of the WPK to keep hold on the construction of modern regional-industry factories in 20 cities and counties every year as an unerring policy task, carry it out successfully and thus raise on one stage the material and cultural living standards of the people in all cities and counties across the country within ten years.
The 19th Enlarged Politburo Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK held between January 23 and 24, 2024, dealt with the issue on powerfully promoting the "Regional Development 20×10 Policy" as its basic agenda item and discussed and decided on measures to implement it.
2. What is the essence of the "Regional Development 20×10 Policy"?
It is to eliminate the century-old backwardness of regions, realize the long-cherished desire of regional people by powerfully accelerating the revolution in the regional industry so as to improve the well-being of the people across the country and look after their rights and interests.
3. What is the basic goal of the "Regional Development 20×10 Policy"?
It is, firstly, to make all cities and counties self-sufficient regions by laying a firm foundation for regional development and secondly, to make all cities and counties well-off regions by epochally raising the material and cultural level of the local people.
4. What are the three essential projects added to the "Regional Development 20×10 Policy"?
The Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK held in December 2024 discussed and decided on the issue of formally including in the "Regional Development 20×10 Policy" the construction of three essential projects in parallel with that of regional-industry factories.
Those three essential projects are advanced public health facilities, scientific, educational and leisure facilities and grain management facilities.
