A Promising Designer
  Some time ago, the 23rd May 21 Architectural Festival was held in the capital city of Pyongyang.
  At the festival, emphasis was put on the creation of new and peculiar architectural styles representing and symbolizing the era and the creation of structures reflecting the dreams and ideals of the people and a bright future of civilization and prosperity.
  The exhibition of multidimensional designs divided into architectural planning design, architectural project design and greening design served as a significant occasion of enriching the knowledge of architects and designers.



  "Rural Village Plan" on the theme of "Ecstasy" was one of the designs highly estimated in the field of architectural planning design.
  It was presented by O Hyon, a girl designer of the Pyongyang Urban Planning Designing Institute.
  She thought a lot when she started to prepare the design.
  It could be said to be the first step she made as a designer after graduating from a university.
  She wanted to create something peculiar yet ideal and new in her own style, that is convenient in life and to be perfect even in the distant future as well as at present.
  She speculated and pursued to create a design which added vigor to the rural development of the new era, suited the topographical conditions and retained the regional characteristics.
  She visited rural villages in the outskirts for life experience and etude.
  She learned about the characteristics of rural villages with workteam and ri as a unit and heard opinions of agricultural workers on the spot to mature a rational design reflecting the details of their life.
  In the course, she created a new design with line beauty, which suited the topography of rural villages.
  Her "Rural Village Plan" was highly estimated with concern of many people.
  Looking at her design, architectural experts highly appreciated her as a promising designer.
  It was a result of her tireless efforts and passion.
  Designer O Hyon said:
  "This success was not made only by my efforts and ability. I could complete it more wonderfully thanks to the unselfish assistance and help of veteran designers including the section chief. Not resting on my laurels, I will create peculiar designs suited to the emotion of the people and thus make a contribution to developing the architecture of the country."



  O Hyon continues to think and devote her enthusiasm to create new architectural styles suited to the sentiments of the people and the way of their life.
