Inaugural ceremony of Tumangang Motor Bridge Named after Yakov Novichenko held
The
Tumangang Motor Bridge connecting Rason and Khasan, the
border cities of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation, was inaugurated when the many-sided cooperation and exchanges between the two countries are developing day by day on the firm foundation of comprehensive strategic partnership and invincible alliance.
Inaugural ceremonies of the Tumangang Motor Bridge Named after Yakov Novichenko who was an officer of the Red Army and an international soldier were held simultaneously in Rason and Khasan on the 7th.
Pak Thae Song, Premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK, and Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation, attended the ceremonies through video system in Pyongyang and Moscow.
Present there were Kim Tok Hun, First Vice-Premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK, Minister of External Economic Relations Yun Jong Ho, Chairman of the DPRK Side to the DPRK-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee for Cooperation in Trade, Economy, Science and Technology, officials concerned, builders and working people in the city of Rason.
Also on hand were Vladimir Topeha, charge d'affaires ad interim of the Russian embassy in the DPRK, and Oleg Kosheev, Russian Consul General in Chongjin.
The national anthems of the DPRK and the Russian Federation were played.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin made a congratulatory speech.
He said the Russia-DPRK inter-governmental cooperation on the construction of the transportation project is an item of agreement made at the meeting between Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President of the Russian Federation, and ComradeKim Jong Un , President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, held in Pyongyang two years ago, and continued:
Today we are witnessing the historic event of the inauguration of motor bridge.
The friendship, good neighborly relations and mutual assistance between the two countries of Russia and the DPRK with a long history are not tied to the international situation. Russia will, in the future, too, make every possible effort to strengthen and develop the bilateral relations in an all-round way.
DPRK Premier Pak Thae Song made a congratulatory speech.
He said the completion of the Tumangang Motor Bridge is a meaningful event of adding new dynamics to the overall bilateral cooperation and noted that the remarkable reality in which monumental assets for DPRK-Russia friendship and cooperation increase gives delight and joy to the peoples of the two countries and a dynamic vigour to the development of the bilateral relations.
The governments of the two countries will continue to achieve substantial successes in the cooperation for common development and prosperity in the future, too, on the basis of the valuable achievements and experiences made and accumulated through the construction of the bridge, he stressed.
According to the instructions of the heads of the governments of the two countries, the inauguration tapes were cut by Kim Tok Hun, First Vice-Premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK, Vladimir Topeha, charge d'affaires ad interim of the Russian embassy in the DPRK, at the venue of the inaugural ceremony held in the city of Rason and by Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Alexandr Kozlov, Chairman of the Russian Side to the DPRK-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee for Cooperation in Trade, Economy, Science and Technology, Andrei Nikitin, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Aleksei Chekunkov, Minister of Development of the Far East and Arctic of Russia, and Sin Hong Chol, DPRK Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation, at the venue of the inaugural ceremony held in Khasan.
Fireworks were set off in celebration of the inauguration and processions of motors passed through the bridge opened to traffic amid the warm applause of the participants.
The government heads, in their closing addresses, said the Tumangang Motor Bridge is a new symbol and proud creation of friendship between the two countries and expressed the firm stand of the two governments to actively implement the item of agreement made at the historic meeting of the summits of the DPRK and Russia.
Then the participants looked round the bridge.
