Modernization of IT Industry
Kyong Myong Nam, Department Director of the Ministry of IT Industry, said the Ninth Congress of the WPK presented specific tasks for the development of IT industry, and continued:
"The respected ComradeKim Jong Un , General Secretary of the WPK, said at the historic Ninth Party Congress that the IT industry sector should make another progress during the period of new long-term plan.
Now that the present era is the era of digitization and the era of artificial intelligence, IT industry is a major sector showing the development and prospect of the national economy.
The Ninth Party Congress stressed the need to establish the firm information infrastructure while rapidly developing the core information technology including artificial intelligence technology in keeping with the actual conditions of the country and actively introduce the already-developed information technology into all spheres of social life.
It also called for establishing major components such as the general economic management system and putting greater spurs to the standardization of information resources without remaining on the already-reached level since it is an essential task for building an advanced nation to put the state affairs on an IT footing."
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is working hard to comprehensively introduce the broadband communication network by establishing the firm infrastructure of information communication.
It drastically increased the information transmission capacity as against before and is steadily raising the level of high-speed, large-storage and modern information communication.
It is also pushing ahead with the work to promptly introduce the already-developed advanced information technology into all spheres of social life including education, public health and sports.
It is building or expanding mobile communication base stations across the country to further widen the mobile communication service domain and actively promoting the work to establish the next-generation mobile communication network.
Sin Ju Song, Department Head of the Ministry of IT Industry, said that the work for putting the state affairs on an IT footing is also carried on vigorously, and continued:
"Typically, we are pushing ahead on a full scale with the development of important information systems such as the 'integrated authentication system' which synthetically supports electronic signature, data protection and encoding in the information systems of the national public service network and the 'extensive data service system' which provides relevant data to the state administrative organs in real time."
The modernization of IT industry is guaranteed by high scientific and technological strength.
It is a consistent policy of the WPK to constantly innovate IT industry of the country in keeping with the demand of the times.
