For Independence and Justice

The Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea was held in January 2021.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK, in his historic report, stressed the need to further develop the relations with the socialist countries, consolidate unity and cooperation with the revolutionary and progressive parties aspiring after independence, and launch a dynamic joint struggle against imperialism on a worldwide scale so as to make the external environment of the state ever-more favourable.
After the congress, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea conducted a dynamic work to strengthen friendship and solidarity with all countries of the world respecting its sovereignty and realize the genuine international justice.

Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

The deep-rooted friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and Russia greeted a fresh heyday amid the deep concern of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and the esteemed President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.
Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, paid an official goodwill visit to the Russian Federation in September 2023 at the invitation of the Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.
The top leaders of the DPRK and Russia discussed with an open mind the important issues and immediate matters on cooperation arising in defending the sovereignty and development interests of the states, peace and security of the region and the world and the international justice with concerted efforts while drawing closer the strategic and tactical cooperation between the two countries and extending strong support to and solidarity with each other on the common front to frustrate the military threat and provocation, high-handed and arbitrary practices of the imperialists to plunder humanity of their independence, progress and peaceful life, and reached a satisfactory agreement and consensus of views.

There was a significant meeting between the top leaders of the DPRK and Russia in Pyongyang in June 2024.
Kim Jong Un, together with the Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, signed the "Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation" on June 19.
The historic Pyongyang talks between the top leaders of the DPRK and Russia became a great event that gave a great vigour to the peoples of the two countries in their efforts to accomplish the cause of building powerful countries, who are dynamically advancing along the road of justice and truth with independence against imperialism as the ideological basis, and that opened a new period of efflorescence in the DPRK-Russia friendship and strategic cooperation.

Kim Jong Un met President Putin again at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing of China and had talks with him on September 3, 2025.
The heads of state of the DPRK and Russia discussed in detail the long-term plans for cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed their steadfast will to keep leading the bilateral relations to a high level.

Thanks to the meticulous concern and active efforts of the top leaders of the two countries, the scenes symbolizing the overall efflorescence in the new era continue to be recorded in the history of the DPRK-Russia good-neighbour relations.
On October 10, 2025, Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, met Dmitri Medvedev, President of the United Russia Party, who paid a congratulatory visit to the DPRK at the head of the delegation of the Party on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK.
At the talk, long-term plans for further revitalizing contacts and cooperation between the WPK and the United Russia Party were discussed and views on the issues of mutual concern including the international and regional situation were widely exchanged.

Kim Jong Un, who always pays deep attention to the development of the DPRK-Russia relations, received Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation who visited the DPRK on several occasions in 2025 alone. And in June he met Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova on a visit to the DPRK leading a delegation of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation on the occasion of the first anniversary of the conclusion of the new treaty between the DPRK and Russia and enjoyed art performances.
In July he met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on a visit to the DPRK to take part in the second strategic dialogue between the foreign ministers of the DPRK and Russia, and had a talk with him in an atmosphere full of comradely trust.
The Korean people grandly celebrated the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation as a great revolutionary event in August 2025.
Kim Jong Un met Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, who paid a congratulatory visit to the DPRK at the head of the delegation of the Russian State Duma on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation.
The strategic DPRK-Russia friendly relations with a long history and tradition will be invariably and firmly consolidated and constantly expanded and developed in the future, too, thanks to the common efforts of the governments and peoples of the two countries.

Historic Occasion That Showed Invariability and Invincibility of DPRK-China Friendly Relations

Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, participated in the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War held in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China, on September 3, 2025.
He met Comrade Xi Jinping with delight and exchanged greetings with each other and had a picture taken with the heads of state and government of different countries and leaders of international organizations invited to the celebrations.
He had talks with Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, at the Great Hall of the People on the afternoon of September 4.
Xi Jinping said that as in the past, the Chinese side will, in the future, too, support the DPRK in its struggle to steadily open up a new phase of the Korean-style socialist cause while taking the road of development suited to its actual conditions.
Kim Jong Un affirmed that the friendly feelings between the DPRK and China cannot change no matter how the international situation may change and it is the steadfast will of the WPK and the DPRK government to steadily intensify and develop the DPRK-China relations.

Kim Jong Un's visit to the People's Republic of China marked a historic occasion that further strengthened the political trust and strategic cooperation between the two parties and two countries and showed the invariability and invincibility of the DPRK-China friendly relations which were formed in the joint struggle for the victory in the socialist cause and overcame all trials and challenges.

80th Anniversary of the WPK Significantly Marked as Common Happy Event and Holiday

The Korean people grandly celebrated the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK in October 2025.
Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, met and talked with Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, and Dmitri Medvedev, President of the United Russia Party, who paid congratulatory visits to the DPRK on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK.
He warmly welcomed the visit to Pyongyang by the party and government leaders of different countries and expressed his will to further strengthen the friendly and cooperative relations according to the requirements of the era.

Colourful events were held in the capital city of Pyongyang, including the meeting, military parade, public procession and torchlight gala, grand mass gymnastics and artistic performance.
Invited to the events were the party and government leaders of different countries, foreign figures and representatives of the international democratic organizations who visited Pyongyang with support to the WPK and warm feelings of friendship toward the Korean people.
Russian and Chinese artistes also gave art performances to celebrate the auspicious holiday of the WPK together.

The international prestige of the DPRK, as a faithful member of the socialist forces and a firm fortress of independence and justice, is further strengthened day after day.
The DPRK will vigorously advance along the road of independence and justice in the future, too.
