Weightlifter Kim Il Gyong
  Weightlifter Kim Il Gyong at the April 25 Heavy Weight Games Team won gold medals at the women's 59-kilogram category of the 2024 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships.
  She began to learn weightlifting at a sports school in the city of Pyongyang at the age of 7.
  She soon drew the attention of experts and was sent to an authoritative team.
  With a dream to become a weightlifting star, she trained hard and finally possessed high techniques thanks to the efforts of her coach to realize her dream.
  She bagged gold medals at international games in her teens.
  She won the 2017 World Junior Weightlifting Championships and the 2018 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships.
  She came first in snatch, clean and jerk and total at the youth and junior women's 59-kilogram categories of the 2019 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships.



  She made 11 new records at the 19th Asian Games and took the first place at the women's 59-kilogram categories of the 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships and the 2024 IWF World Championships.
  Now she holds world records in snatch, clean and jerk and total at the women's 59-kilogram category.
