No. 1 in the World Weightlifting Circles
  The weightlifters of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea set seven new world records, produced nine world champions, won 45 medals including 26 gold medals, men's and women's team cups and best women player award, and took the first place in the medal standings of countries and regions at the 2024 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships.
  The number of gold medals won by the DPRK team is almost equivalent to that of those belonging to the teams from the second to the seventh of the medal rankings.
  14 of the 17 DPRK players took part in the world championships for the first time.










World Champions

  Witnessing the games of the DPRK players, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the World Championships sent heartfelt congratulations to the DPRK team, saying: Though they took the first place in total, the DPRK players showed excellent games of breaking world records to challenge the world, pleasing the spectators. I express thanks to the Olympic Committee and the Weightlifting Association of the DPRK for having sent an excellent team.
  The President of the International Weightlifting Federation said: I congratulate the DPRK players on their successful games. This time the DPRK team not only took the first place in nine categories of weight but also broke seven world records. This shows that weightlifting of the DPRK is leading the world. The weightlifting of the DPRK could develop thanks to the active concern and assistance of the state, I think. I hope that they will continue to make good successes in the future, too.
  The victory in the 2024 IWF World Championships won by the ambition of the DPRK players to hold the Asian and world championships and their extraordinary action made the DPRK the leading power in the world weightlifting circles.
