Peculiar Tradition of Our State
After the country was liberated in 1945, the Korean people kindled the fierce flames of the general ideological mobilization movement for nation building and the emulation drives for increased production to consolidate the foundation of democracy. And during the Fatherland Liberation War against the armed invasion of the US imperialists between 1950 and 1953, they powerfully conducted patriotic mass movements such as "My Hill" movement, weapons fund donation movement and plowwoman movement, making a big contribution to winning a great victory in the war.
Especially, the Chollima Movement conducted throughout the society in the 1950s takes a great position in the history of development of the state.
Everything was reduced to ashes during the three-year Fatherland Liberation War, but the Korean people absolutely supported and followed the policies of the state and concentrated all efforts on the postwar rehabilitation and construction, overcoming difficulties. They got to carrying out the first five-year plan from 1957.
As a result, they overfulfilled the five-year plan on total industrial output value in two years and a half and on indices of products in four years and increased the total industrial output value at a miraculous speed of 36.6 percent on an average every year between 1957 and 1960. In those days, the Chollima Movement was born and the Chollima era opened on this land.
In the Chollima era, the Korean people increased the industrial production at 19.1 percent on an average every year in the whole period of industrialization from 1957 to 1970 and thus realized the socialist industrialization in 14 years' time.
Today, the spirit and tradition of the former generations are invariably carried forward by the new generations.
Recently, many young people volunteer to work in difficult and challenging sectors and the enthusiasm for collective socialist emulation is growing in all regions and units. It proves that the peculiar tradition of our state continues to be carried forward.
In addition, workers of the Ryongsong Machine Complex, a well-known large-size machine producer of Korea, made an unprecedented innovation of producing ordered equipment of great significance in developing the national economy in a short span of time.
The spirit displayed by workers of the complex was named the Chollima spirit in the new era.
Now, people in all parts of the country follow the Chollima spirit in the new era to continuously break new standard and new record.
The respected ComradeKim Jong Un stressed the need to firmly keep and carry forward the peculiar tradition of our state by actively organizing the socialist patriotic movement, a revolutionary mass movement, which is the powerful driving force for national prosperity and development.
